Bluejay Girls Fall to Tomahawk 8-6 in Extra Innings

In a game heard right here on WJMT and wjmtfm.com and seen on the WJMT TV Channel on YouTube, the Bluejay girls’ softball team fell to the Tomahawk Hatchets 8-6 in eight innings. The loss saw the Bluejays’ record fall to 7-11 and 6-7 in Great Northern Conference action, while the Hatchets tied the bluejays in the conference standing. Bluejays’ starter MacKenzie Herdt (pictured) earned AmericInn Bluejay Player of the Game honors as she struck out 16 Hatchets while taking the loss. She held the hatchets scoreless for four innings before giving up four runs in the fifth and two in the sixth. The Bluejays scored single runs in third, fourth, and fifth innings before tying the Hatchets with three runs in the bottom of the sixth. The score remained tied into the eighth inning when the Hatchets scored two in the top of the frame before the Bluejays left runners on first and third base on a disputed call at first base to end the game.

The Bluejay girls finish conference and regular season play tomorrow against the Red Robins in Antigo. The game can be heard on WJMT and wjmtfm.com, with the Nicolet Bank pre-game show beginning at 4:45 and first pitch at 5:00.
